SourPulse The Downside and Strong Sensation at the Dunmow Carnival

Great Dunmow Carnival Entertainment
Great Dunmow Carnival keeps getting bigger and better - we the Events Committee think this is the best overall line up yet (OK so we would). We hope you agree and enjoy! - first up are;
STRONG SENSATION PRESENT THE MOTOWN SHOWCASE
This year for the Great Dunmow Carnival 2010 we have managed to book the one of the most successful up and coming Motown Tribute bands in the UK. "Strong Sensation " brings the sounds of the Motown legends to life - Featuring some of the UK's top musicians, Fil (who's sung solo for us before) presents his live 6 piece band and will be showcasing the songs that epitomised the Detroit motor town vibe. Performing songs made famous by such acclaimed artists as Smoky Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Isley Brothers, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Martha Reeves..... The list goes on and on. With musicians and singers of this quality coupled with the original dance floor classics, this years live show is set to get us dancing in the street (or should that be dancing on the Rec!).
NEVER 4 GET AS TAKE THAT
Never 4 Get are the UK’s most exciting and energetic Take That tribute. With high powered and highly polished dance routines, tight vocals and authentic looking costumes, the Never 4 Get boys are as close to watching the genuine article as you will ever find. Started in Manchester in 1990, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald, and Jason Orange sold more than Twenty million records. with their dance-oriented pop tunes and soulful ballads. Never 4 Get bring the hits to life Pray, Re-Light My Fire, It Only Takes as Minute, A Million Love Songs, Greatest Day, Shine and many more will make the 2010 Carnival the time to Take That and Party!
The DOWNSIDE
Great Dunmow Carnival welcomes back local boys & Carnival house band "The Downside ". Reece, Tom & Chas are well known for their performances at Traffic the Countess of Warwick show and many others.
Their accomplished acoustic style fits perfectly with the late afternoon slot when we will be pulling down the arena fence scattering the hay bales as seating and enjoying a relaxing pint (or 3) before the sun slips behind the fairground.
CRAIG NEIL
Seen here on the cover of his third album “Elusive Dreams” Craig has been seen by millions on TV, has worked with the Drifters, Alexander O’Neal and has just supported the Osmonds on their last UK tour. Craig is proud to be supporting Great Great Dunmow at this years Carnival following his storming success with his acclaimed “songs of Neil Diamond” show for the Round Table in the Foakes Hall in February.
SCENE II THEATRE SCHOOL
Based at the Great Dunmow Arts Centre, Mikki & Jacky encourage children and young adults from seven to eighteen years who wish to make the performing arts a career and those who just want to have FUN!
ST MARY’S PRIMARY SCHOOL
It’s great to see the children from St Mary’s back with us again this year. The Head Val White has the children working overtime for their starring role.
RHYTHM AND BALLS CIRCUS SHOW
Do you want to learn to perform some circus skills of your own? Well now you can. Great Great Dunmow welcomes back the circus experience with a difference. As well as performing around our showground Rhythm and Balls will be offering circus skills tuition in the adjacent field.
The club has been in existence in some form or another since 1992.
It consists of a mix of Professional Entertainers, ex-Professional Performers, semi-professional Enthusiasts & just plain bog standard Hobbyists & Kids who want to have fun learning, practising & teaching Juggling & related Circus Skills. The club appears at many events throughout the year supplying workshops and tuition at schools and council events.
DUNMOW PRIMARY SCHOOL
Great Dunmow Primary may be the newest school in Great Dunmow but the effort they are putting into their community activities is very admirable. The Head Sylvia Ruck tells us that we have something of a treat in store for us this year.
STEPSUKAZ
STEPSUKAZ are a street dance crew based in Essex. They are managed and choreographed by local girl Laura Cadwallader. For Carnival they will be basing their performance around our Carnival theme "Films"
STEPSUKAZ aim to make street dance accessible to all ages, and abilities proving that everyone can have the “swagga”.
STEPSUKAZ got together in February 2009 and since then have come 2nd in the Essex Street Dance Championships, performed to 6,000 at a Twenty20 cricket match, and been on the same stage as Signature (Britain’s Got Talent runners up 2008) at Basildon Festival. STEPSUKAZ are particularly keen to dance at the Great Dunmow Carnival and perform to many of those who have been supportive of the project.
BIRDS OF PREY
As well as a short display in the main arena you will be able to get up close and personal with these magnificent birds in the adjacent field. We won’t hawk on about this but this year our eagle-eyed scouts winged it and pigeon holed some real head turners and earned themselves a feather in their cap!
HELENA ROMANES BAND “SOURPULSE ”
Local High School (HRS Helana Romanes School} are proud to present their school rock band “SourPulse”. We extend our thanks again to Karen Brown, Head of Music (who always produces the best home-grown talent).
DUNMOW KYOKUSHINKAI KARATE CLUB
Based in Great Great Dunmow , the Great Dunmow Kyokushinkai Karate club was started in 1985 by Sensei Andrew Turner and a group of students from Bishops Stortford Kyokushinkai. Sensei Andrew still teaches and trains with the same infectious drive and passion for Karate he has always had, and the club now has a strong core of black belts instructors each with their own individual knowledge and experience.
Their stunning narrated karate display is a real Carnival favourite for all agesArticle written by John Rayner for Dunmow Carnival
